Day 2: Calla Lilies, Cobblestones, and the Camino Charm

Day 2 is complete and what an amazing and beautiful day it has been!

Great Weather

Today’s hike was just incredible because of the nice weather. We started a bit earlier, at around 8:30. The temperature was a sunny and clear 55° when we set out. And, it remained clear and beautiful all throughout the hike.

Same New Friends

We spent another day with our new hiking buddies from yesterday. We’ve really enjoyed hanging out with them and getting to know them.

Since we booked our itinerary through the same company, we’ve been staying at the same hotels and eating dinners together, but we have one more day before we go our separate ways.

Lots of Hikers

We saw lots of hikers early in the day. With such nice weather, everyone wanted to get started early.

Early into the hike, we walked on lots of boardwalks by the sea. But, we eventually headed inland where we got to spend more time in the wilderness, while experiencing a variety of paths.

These cobblestone streets are beautiful but hard to walk on!

Shops and Stops Along the Way

Much of the El Camino’s charm comes from its many small shops and stops along the way. About halfway into the hike, we rested at this place, enjoying some coffee and a much needed bathroom break. It was nice to sit and see all the other hikers.

Casa de Moinho

We came another cute little area of decorations and handmade jewelry for sale.

All along the path, the land is covered with calla lilies. So beautiful and aromatic!

We finally ended our hike today is Esposende.

Bonus

And as a bonus, we got to end the hike chilling by a very, very refreshing (chilly) pool!
